30 Hours Free Childcare in Wales
The Welsh Government offers up to 30 hours of funded early education and childcare per week for eligible working parents of 3 and 4-year-olds, for up to 48 weeks per year.
✅ Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, you must:
• Live in Wales.
• Have a child aged 3 or 4 years old.
• Be working and earning at least the equivalent of 16 hours at the national minimum wage or living wage.
• Each parent must earn less than £100,000 per year. 
Self-employed parents and those on zero-hours contracts may also be eligible.
How to Apply
Applications are managed by your local authority. You should apply the term before your child becomes eligible.

Tax-Free Childcare Scheme in Wales
The Tax-Free Childcare scheme is a UK-wide initiative that helps working parents with childcare costs. For every £8 you pay into your childcare account, the government adds £2, up to £2,000 per child per year (or £4,000 for disabled children).
✅ Eligibility Criteria
You can apply if:
• You live in the UK.
• You and your partner (if applicable) are working and each earning at least £152 per week (equivalent to 16 hours at the National Minimum Wage).
• Each parent earns less than £100,000 per year.
• Your child is 11 or under (or 16 if disabled). 
This scheme is available for self-employed individuals as well.
